Sanitation (Garbage) Pickup:

  • Q: Is the garbage pick-up supposed to happen at its proper time this week?
    A: Garbage is usually picked up on its normal scheduled, weather permitting*, advanced changes in the schedule can be found at the Sanitation Department's Holiday Schedule.
    Most changes to the normal schedule are also posted on the main page of the City's web site just prior to the event.
    * For safety reasons pick-up will not take place when the weather is determined to be dangerous.

  • Q: You really want us to list or link to your site (or a site that you think we would be interested in), will we do to it?
    A: No, with some exceptions. It is against the City of Canton's policy to add references or links to our Web site that go to entities that we do not already have a pre-existing professional relationship.
    Of those entities that we do have a pre-existing professional relationship with, we only link to information that is: centric to Canton, fits into the goals for this web site, not overtly or covertly commercial in nature, and that our citizens will find useful. We also reserve the right to allow or refuse to post any link for any, or no, reason. We are working to make this web site a haven for the citizens of Canton to come and get the information they are looking for from their local government, we will not allow that standard to be diluted with links that do not move us toward that goal.
  • Q: Is there a Fee to put a link on the City's site?
    A: No. The City's web site and the information on it is a free service for for the City's citizens and visitors. If a link is deemed worthy of inclusion, the City is happy to post it free of charge.

External Calendar Events:

  • Q: You really want us to add your super-awesome event to the online Calendar, will we add it?
    A: Probably not, with some exceptions. It is against the City of Canton's policy to add Calendar events to our Web site for entities that we do not already have a pre-existing professional relationship.
    Of those entities that we do have a pre-existing professional relationship with, we only add events to our Calendar that are: centric to Canton, fits into the goals for this web site, not overtly or covertly commercial in nature (exceptions: Civic Center events, Farmers' Market, First Friday, HOF events, etc.), and that our citizens will find useful. We also reserve the right to allow or refuse to post any event for any, or no, reason. We are working to make this web site a haven for the citizens of Canton to come and get the information they are looking for from their local government, we will not allow that standard to be diluted with information that does not move us toward that goal.
    Although, if you feel your event will add to the City's goals for this Web Site, then submit it for review.
  • Q: Is there a Fee to post an event on the City's site?

  • Service Requests is where you can report many types of things to the City of Canton, including (but not limited to): potholes, long grass, burnt out street/traffic lights, graffiti, and missing or damaged street signs.
